Ski With the Blind

Ski-for-Light is an organization dedicated to helping visually impaired people enjoy life out on the slopes and Betsy Thomason regularly volunteers to team up with a blind skier during the week-long cross country events. Most recently she skied with a woman with retinitis pigmentosa who completed the entire course on the final day of the trip. Betsy was right behind her the whole way, making sure she steered clear of any obstacles in her path. β€œOn the sixth day, Laurie Ann skied the whole three miles, crossing the finish line with the impressive double-poling technique. I was a few strides behind β€” this was her event and she was launched!” says the AARC member.
